At 260 pages, this is a fast-paced read that I binged in a day. The atmosphere is very spooky and unsettling. They develop a mysterious ability to communicate with nature, and they may be humanity’s only hope against an upcoming threat. The story centers on sisters Flora and Fauna a year after they were struck by lightning in a tree, an accident which leaves Fauna catatonic.

If you mixed A History of Wild Places, The Year of the Witching, and Stranger Things, the result would be something like The Lightning Tree. Such a wild and engrossing genre-bending story!
